I’m excited to interview Deborah Scranton the director of “The War Tapes“. She invited my brother and I to the Premiere of “The War Tapes” at The Tribeca Film Festival. I was thrilled to be there and was amazed by the story she told. The thing that impressed me the most was how she was able to tell the story of these soldiers without written voice over narration. She lets the soldiers tell their story and how the war effected their personal lives. She is not protesting the war nor is she glamorizing the war, she was just showing the daily life of a soldier at war.
Bravo to the men that carried the cameras and risked that spilt second of reaction time to avoid a wound or even death. It seemed that these soldiers became attached to the cameras as it listened to the men without prejudice or judgement. This was a powerful documentary.
From The War Tapes About section:
Straight from the front lines in Iraq, THE WAR TAPES is the first war movie filmed by soldiers themselves. It is Operation Iraqi Freedom as filmed by Sergeant Steve Pink, Sergeant Zack Bazzi and Specialist Mike Moriarty and other soldiers.

For Deborah:
What compelled you to direct this particular project?

Deborah,
Have there been any political parties who have tried to use The War Tapes as a tool in their campaigns?

Deborah,
With the recent documentaries like Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11, it seems more documentary filmmaker’s are using their films as a platform for their own views rather than presenting it’s audience with all the information and letting them make up their own minds.
Is it hard to keep your personal opinions about the subject out of the project when you are making a documentary?
Thanks and keep up the great work!!!
Blake

Jill, Jared and Blake thanks for the questions… She is an awesome woman with great ethics and a strong moral code. She is what the main stream media should be.
