What will happen to Michael Richards?

November 22nd, 2006 · 5 Comments

I’m disgusted by this whole manner and I personally don’t want to watch him on any screen again. Go ahead and apologize to anyone you wish to, but that was so hateful and rude I’m no longer a fan. Please tell me what you believe.

What will happen to Michael Richards after his apology? What will happen to Michael Richards after his apology?
Select up to 2 of the following:
We forgive him and laugh again at him on Seinfeld.
Never watch another episode of Seinfeld again.
He never apologized to the right people.
He did nothing wrong. He got tired of being harrassed on stage.
Why can some comedians say the "N" word and he can't.

why wasn’t this an uproar when he said all women are C**ts? or why wasn’t it an uproard when fifty comic a week call gay guys F*gs? I’m just wondering….

    Cindy,

You make a great point. I’ve never heard either, I think our media or we choose what we want to hear and comment and bitch about it. I’m sure this incident will magnify other blatant filth that came out of his mouth in the past. I think with the video that was taken of him it magnified his outburst not to mention he was directing it at one person. I think when comedians talk about gender or races as a whole it is easier for the audience to laugh and shake it off. But when he points out a single person and rips into them we see them as a person and their personal feelings come out for everyone to see.

I watched the clip a couple of times, and it looked to me like he was being ironic when he spit it out, but the audience didn’t take it that way. He immediately sensed this, but he wasn’t witty enough to make the audience understand. It then degraded quickly from there – the audience spouting back and Michael responding angrily.
To yell out “n*gger” and really mean it in an old-school, hardcore racist way takes a certain mindset and ignorance that just seems to me is beyond what actually happened here. I could be wrong, maybe he really does hate black people and considers them “n*ggers”. But I didn’t get that from the clip. I think he was just trying to be ballsy but wasn’t witty enough to make it work.

I don’t think he is an old school racist. I don’t think he approves of klan rallies and probably hates the fact that people like that exists. I do think that there is an abundance of hatred in him. By pointing him out and saying, “Fifty years ago we’d have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your ass.” that is a damned racist statement if I ever heard one. Depending on the location, 50 years ago he wouldn’t be in a comedy club with a white comedian. It was 51 years ago when Emmett Till was brutally killed because he whistled or flirted at a white lady. There is no excuse for Cozmo to say that to anyone.

One thing is for sure, he is a terrible stand up comic. He could of ripped the hecklers apart, but instead spouted off insults that any fifth grader could come up with. He was an genius physical comedian, but apparantly it doesn’t translate to the stage.
It is a shame that most of the cast members can’t get past Seinfeld. On the other hand, how many of us will ever do something that monumental in our lives? I find it amusing that people call them “has-beens” when all they will ever do is have an average salary job, squeeze out a couple kids, have a few fun thanksgivings, then die.
