[Audio] Remembering Son

December 20th, 2006 · No Comments

sonseals3_579.jpgTwo years ago one of my favorite Blues artist, Son Seals, died from complications from diabetes.

When I first saw Son perform it was at Chicago Blues club in NYC (that club doesn’t exist anymore) and he caught my attention right away. His stage presence was spectacular, his singing voice demanded your attention, and his axe cut right into your soul and moved you to his music. Man, Son was a spectacular Blues musician, hard to impersonate and his music, difficult not to fall in love with. I’ve seen him perform live many times and I feel extremely lucky.

If you have never heard his music, listen to this podcast. Earlier this year I recorded a phone interview with Bruce Iglauer the founder and CEO of Alligator Records about his relationship with Son. At the end of the podcast I play ‘I’m Gonna Take It All Back‘ my favorite Son Seals song.
