The Countdown is Almost Over

January 1st, 2007 · 3 Comments

Yes, last night we had a countdown to the New Year watching ABC’s Rocking New Years Eve with Dick Clark. But I completely forgot that Dick Clark had a stroke until I saw him speak last night on TV. Wow, I guess the TV execs. do have a heart.

NYE2K-Ball-07-Finished(2)-13659.jpgLast night when Dick began to countdown to The New Year, I hit one but couldn’t get out the Happy New Year. You see, I’ve been on a countdown since December 23, 2006 and today I’m finally on one. The last 10 days, including today, have been so relaxing and refreshing.

I had three more personal days to take off from work and I choose to take them during Xmas and New Years and it turned out that the three days turned into ten straight days off from work. I can’t begin to recall the last time I had that many days off where I could relax and not stress about work.

Well it worked. Today is the last day that I have off. I’m going to enjoy it with my wife and then be back on here to bring a new year full of ideas and suggestions within the digital video community.

I do have one main New Years resolution and that is to write a screenplay. A fictional narrative that is going to be based on a dark family comedy. Can’t really compare it with any current films, this film will focus on human nature and the desires that overwhelm us. Like I said completely fictional. But I feel that I can finally bring this 8 year idea to fruition. I might need some help between some pages and I might post a few pages or even character bios so that you, the readers will understand where I’m going in the film. I’m not sure if I want to put the entire script on-line, but that may change if I get an abundance of comments or readers.

This past year has been great and I’m anxiously looking ahead to meet some new and great people with similar interests. Here are some of the great people that inspire me…

  • Angela Coon-My wife and best friend. Beginning a new career as an esthetician, at Indigenous Spa. After successfully graduating from Leon’s Beauty School while working at a restaurant and singing in a band. Hardest working woman that I know.
  • Sean Coon-My brother really pushed me to begin blogging about my profession and my take on things. Thanks!
  • John Ford-An amazing programmer that helped me set up my documentary blog and continues to be a good friend.
  • Jarod Kearney-He is a history buff who talks about historical events with a mind of what if scenarios. Brilliant creative writing and funny as hell.
  • Jill Foster-A documentary filmmaker who is putting a film together about spouses that live with geeks. Fun project, and I can tell she has some geek in her too.
  • Brian Conley-A true pioneer created aliveinbaghdad.org, the only way for us to get the true story of how the Iraqi citizens are living with the US occupation.
  • Deborah Scranton-The director of “The War Tapes,” invited my brother and I to the premiere of the film at the Tribeca Film Festival.
  • Blake Faucette-Series DVD creator and CEO, a true independent filmmaker that is a personal friend of mine and has the utmost amount of respect from me.
  • Jared Miles-Co-worker that is blogging about ways for people to do it themselves. Great site.
  • Ze Frank-If you have no idea who this guy is, leave right now and watch all of the episodes on his site. A talented entertainer that knows how to inspire his fans.

I’m back, and ready for a fun year with nothing but high expectations.

Sounds like a cool resolution, Andy! I can’t wait to see what your twisted mind comes up with.
I got a ton of hits New Years eve from people googling “Why does the ball drop” (I wrote the history of it on my blog) – Something about that countdown makes you enthusiastically welcome the New Year like a truckload of Meds at a senior center. To 2007!
