When I first started to listen to the blues Luther Allison is the man that energized my passion for this music. He was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in July of 1997. He died four weeks later, the blues world and music lovers were devastated. And still are.
He left a great Discography a collection of great albums to carry on his memory for years to come. His son Bernard Allison is carrying his father’s legacy proudly with his own great music.
Does anybody from Greensboro, or the surrounding area remember when he played at City Stage in 1995? He blew this town away.
I recall him hooking up his wireless guitar and walking the streets of downtown Greensboro with a herd of people behind him. It was one of those moments when you look around and feel the warmth of the human spirit. It was magical. If anyone has any footage of that day please let me know.

I remember that! You called me up and told me about this awesome musician playing downtown. For those that don’t know Andy, the man connects with blues music on a very, very deep level – it’s been cool to watch over the years!
