Car Troubles, Need Help

March 30th, 2007 · No Comments

My wife has a 1987 Toyota Corolla and it needs a catalytic converter and something else with the exhaust. The car has over 291,000 miles on it. The engine was replaced about five years ago with a Toyota pickup truck engine. We bought it 3 years ago and it has done it’s job, going from A-B. The car has always had a problem starting up. Some days it would start up fine, but most days it would take a good five minutes to start it up.

The total to fix it is $400. That is if everything goes smoothly, meaning they can’t guarantee that there isn’t something else wrong with the car after they fix the exhaust problem. $400 would be fine if it would fix it and run for another year. Here is where I need your help. Should we put the money back into the car or should we go ahead and get a used car?

I’m leaning to put the money into another car.
