House Party Discussion

473045281_f06c53b487_m.jpgFreePress.net alerted my email last week of an event taking place in Greensboro. So last night my wife, brother and myself went over to a house party hosted by Jahan & Ann, residence of Greensboro and watched a documentary about how our mainstream media gave complete access to the Bush administration to promote the war against Iraq without any major dissenting voices. They pretty much acted like a loud bullhorn for the administration. Due to the fear of acting unpatriotic. Can you believe that? Our media professionals? This is the voice of America? Don’t worry about being called unpatriotic, because your pathetic.

ridder.jpgNot everyone is to blame especially the fine journalist of Knight Ridder, Jonathan Landay, Warren Strobel. Checking the facts, investigating through CIA contacts and doing their job. If their paper was in the mainstream, would we have listened to their reporting or called them out as being unpatriotic and blacklisted them? I wish we could’ve figured that out.

If you watched the Bill Moyers’ “Buying The War” last night and you felt like you had to say something but just couldn’t find a venue to vent well here is a start. After the screening we gathered around in the living room and had a very productive and sometimes excited discussion about what we should do in order to help make a change. We shared ideas from bloggers, filmmakers, newspaper distributors, former journalists, college activists, political activists and concerned citizens. Take a listen.
