This is one of my favorite things about Final Cut Pro. I will show you how to save your favorite motion effect in Final Cut Pro. What does that mean? It means after you spend a lot of quality time making keyframes, cropping and anything else you manipulate in a clip under the motion tab you can save it and use it again later. Let me show you.
In this clip I need to Scale the clip to 50%, change the Opacity to 75% and Crop the image 10% on each side. Double click on the clip in the timeline to open it up in the Viewer. In the Viewer click on the Motion tab. You should see something like this.

Go ahead and scale the video to 50 under Basic Motion.

Next, click the right Arrow next to Opacity and scroll to 75.

Finally, click the right Arrow next to Crop and give each side a value of 10.

With the Viewer still selected select from the top menu Effects—>Make Favorite Motion.

It creates your motion in the favorites folder in your Effects Tab in the Browser.

Select it and hit return and you can name it anything you like. If not it will use the name of the clip that you made the favorite motion from. Now if you had 5 clips in the timeline that needed the same motion effects as the one you just made… it’s now easy. Just select your favorite motion effect and drag and drop it on the clips that need it. Your done and you saved some time. If you created a kick ass motion effect, favorite for later so you will have it in your arsenal for another project.

Good tip…but I’m wondering: if I work on MULTIPLE G5’s, how can I save these Motion Favorites to a thumb drive (for example) and bring to another system to use again? I cannot seem to figure out just WHERE FCP saves my motion favs (to a sub-folder???) so I can save this folder to export/import onto another G5…HELP!
