“Slipped Away,” is one of those college films that make you say get off the drugs. Typical college film, alcohol, drugs, lesbians and death. The assignment for the cinematography class was to pitch our film ideas to the class as if they were the executive producers. The class then voted and chose the top two and split-up the class into two production teams. Fortunately for me I didn’t write or direct this. I was the director of photography and producer. What can I say besides I missed the class when we were to pitch our story ideas. This one made the cut.
The reason I didn’t make that class was…ROAD TRIP!!! My buddy Jamie and I went to NYC to go to the Yankees 1996 ticker tape parade, drove up and back within 30 hours. The graduate assistant narced me out, he was a Braves fan. Figures. Those were crazy and fun times. As kids say these days, grab a 420 and enjoy this.
OK, exhale and go grab some munchies. I’m using this week to show a few of my sad college flicks, bare with me it’s almost over. We shot this with a Bolex 16mm camera and ran into some problems. You can see on some of the footage a white line on the right hand side of the film. That was because we forgot to tape the cameras case after we loaded the film. Learned some fun and interesting techniques. I shot one more time with a 16mm camera since then. You’ll see the results on Friday.
