This session was packed and sold out. Wow sitting in the session of Using Storytelling in design was fantastic i feel like the pathway is becoming clearer now. He used his real world examples but I loved his commentary about each design and what the client wanted and how he transitioned his creativity with what the client wanted. He also showed what to me looked like a normal catalog which I would not question at all the design look. He then showed his version and what a complete difference. It was arranged beautifully well and clean. The images did not takeover the page and the copy was neat and clean. He said use scale, meaning use typography and scale the message whether you use it on a sidewalk or even as a restroom sign in a restaurant. People react to that. I really enjoyed his creation for the 75th anniversary of his Alma mater. 75 years turned into 75 feet of displays of creations of graduates from the program in sections, it was clever and visually stunning. These are the people that I want to latch myself on and learn their way of thinking.
I?m really digging this conference more and more with each new session. I have a fresh mind, without any design background besides the gorilla tactics which I have been practicing my whole life. I can honestly say that I?m ready to learn what it takes to become a designer. What does that statement mean, it means that I need to expose myself to more art exhibits be aware of my surroundings and make the jump to go for a masters in design.
Where and when will that happen? Not sure, but I feel that it will propel my career in the film/video field as well help me with Internet marketing. What is my timetable for this? Not right away, I want to concentrate on doing the best job possible for ConvergeSouth Film Festival before I begin to think about going back to school. That is my number one priority professionally. By the way I’m looking for assistance from designers. I have many needs that I alone can?t complete. Leave me a comment and I?ll get in touch with you if you would like to donate some of your skills for this film festival.
