This is the kind of motivation that moves me. Something raw and from the heart. Boneheaded! Sure, but passion and spirit. I have no ill will towards anyone and this is not the clip for that. This just helps me get off my tail and find me some work.
If you have ever worked with me on any project please feel free to motivate me in the comments section and show the world why I’m so marketable. It’s OK to comment even if you never worked with me but think you understand how I roll up in this piece. Sorry honey I couldn’t think of anything else.

Basically, Andy is one of the most creative people I have ever met. I’ve never seen him take on a project that wasn’t completed to fantastic results. He is extremely hard-working, dedicated, genuine, and would be an asset to any company he works for. Oh, and he is also one of those rare, actual, true-hearted human beings. Remember those, anyone?

We miss you, Andy. Your chair is looking very lonely by himself. I remember how our corporate DVDs/Tapes looked like and you took them to the next level. And yes, you are very creative. The magazine idea (water solvable magazines) was awesome. I still think about it.

Well, I’m sorry to hear the Brooks group has decided to do away with it’s multimedia department (you). Their content doesn’t require a heavy aesthetic, so they can find someone to shoot and edit pretty easy, but they won’t find someone to shoot, edit, encode webformats, upload, create flash animation, consult about webtraffic patterns, record professional quality audio, master DVD’s, edit audio and transmit podcasts, and suggest forward-thinking internet marketing strategies (to name just a few of the things you were doing there) for less then a couple hundred thousand a year. If you’re replaced, compromises will be made (or maybe outsourcing to India, lol?). Unless their budget skyrockets, they’ll have to settle for half the worker. (Much like my ex-girlfriends have decided to settle for half the wang). But it just goes to show people don’t always think things through.
Anyway, you want a refference?
“I am amazed at the depths of Andy’s technical knowledge and abilities in almost every field of media creation. I have run several freelance media businesses and yet I often turn to Andy for consultation and technical advice on audio recording, video editing, and web-related issues. ”

I’m sad that I wasn’t at work this past week to see you. You have the talent and the motivation to do it. Keep plugging and keep being “Ballsy.”
You were my creative muse at the Brooks Group. What am I going to do now?
You’re ideas are always innovative and clever. Thank you for never being afraid to express them. The How Design Conference with you this past month was probably one of the best things I have done this year. We learned a lot and The Brooks Group gave us the opportunity to meet some extremely amazing people. You may not realize it, but you pushed me to become more out going and confident in myself. And the conference reminded me why I am a creative person.
I look forward to seeing your work and hope we will get the chance to collaborate on something one day. Now go set the world on fire!

Hi Andy. I’m sorry to hear about your unexpected return into the job searching world, but, at the same time, excited for you to have new opportunities. Anyone who works with you in the future will be lucky to do so. I’ve personally benefited from and been inspired by your willingness to go above and beyond in your support for and work with the Greensboro Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Not only did you produce an excellent film on the topic (Greensboro’s Child), but you also jumped in and donated your technical skills and valuable time with our final report production and I don’t know how we could have gotten it all done without you. On top of all of that, I was blown away by how you didn’t even seem to want any kind of credit (or payment) for all of that work. If all of the talk about karma has any legitimacy, you’ve got good things coming your way.

To any prospective employer of Andy;
I had the pleasure of working with him at the Brooks Group for a 100 page tutorial that required a natural (in the moment) style. Most corporate “creative” types are not very insightful or “creative,” But Andy knew what would work and pushed the higher-ups to listen to my voice - resulting in a very good gig for me. But here’s the real deal - 100 page tutorials ARE BORING TO DO!!! But Andy made it all very easy and enjoyable.
The man has creativity. He thinks outside the corporate box. He’ll elevate any project you have from the corporate world to LA/New York polished.
If you hire him and he accepts, you’re lucky. He should be an independent producer.

This may sound extremely biased coming from me because I am Andy’s wife, but 6 years before we ever thought of dating I was his manager for 3 years. I have always been truly inspired by Andy’s work ethic and his ability to make working a fun experience. He is serious, determined and hard-working as well as a profoundly dedicated and loyal. He never forgets his friends. I have never met his equal which would explain why I am now his wife. Anyone who has the pleasure of collaborating with him will never be disappointed as he is always focused at the task at hand and never backs down from a challenge. He always gives more than he gets and deserves respect in his field. Best of luck to you babe, but I know you don’t need luck. I’m behind and beside you 100%!

I worked with Andy for close to two years at The Brooks Group. We were the only two creatives there at the time, so we definitely had a special relationship in terms of collaborating and brainstorming. I’m one of many creatives at my present company, but I have to say, even surrounded by several other like-minded people now, I’ve never met anyone with Andy’s passion or guts. He’s absolutely fearless when it comes to throwing ideas out there, and if he’s doing something he cares about there’s no stopping him. In terms of technical ability, you’re getting the best, but anyone can be taught how to edit or record something. What really makes the difference is the heart of the person behind it, and Andy has that in spades.

Apparently the Brooks Group’s multimedia dept budget grew exponentially because they could get rid of one guy and outsource the work to at least 10 people. I know a lot of top video production people who are amazingly talented yet still don’t have the skills that Andy possesses. I think of myself as having better than average skills in the video production field but I don’t know how many times I’ve gone to Andy because he knew how to do something I didn’t. I’ve chosen to focus on the things I know and do them well if not better than most and I’m confident that if there is something I can’t do then Andy will always be my go to man. I am constantly amazed at Andy’s technical know how and his willingness to learn new things that make him stand out in his field. To any of Andy’s future employers, whatever salary you pay him, it will be the best bargain you will ever get.

Andy Coon is someone that I look forward to working with again in any capacity whatsoever. His world renowned talent for anything technically related in the field of oh say, ” ANYTHING” is greatly appreciated by all who know him. In my meager opinion, the Brooks Group lost it’s better half and will surely notice this fact immediately.

I’m another person fortunate enough to say I know Andy personally and professionally. He is a top-shelf human being; inquisitive, creative, humble, generous and kind. He’s also genuine. If you’re collaborating and something sucks, he’ll say it sucks. Not out of spite, ego or jealousy but for the integrity of the project. Same thing for people. If you’re being and ass and it’s negatively affecting other people, Andy is one of those few people good enough to let you know.
Here’s a brief example of the kind of person Andy is, both on the clock and off. I was new to The Brooks Group and heard about a company called vidlit - they create short videos of literary works - and came to Andy with the idea. He totally embraced the project having no idea where we were going with it. He even taught himself - on the fly - how to use Flash. What we created didn’t have the impact we would have liked - but Andy threw himself at the project and created a really awesome piece that, in the right environment, he would have been encouraged to work through to its completion.
Andy, I’m excited for you. I know your new opportunity is going to lead you to the right environment. Despite your hard work and dedication, The Brooks Group fit you about as well as Ed Sullivan fit The Doors.
Anytime you want to work together, call.

Andy is the best!
Months after getting a particular project, the editor dropped it back into my lap without completing the job. This stressed me out because I had a little knowledge of Final Cut Pro, but not enough to finish the project. I was on that project as a co-writer and Executive Producer. So, I googled the internet looking for help in North Carolina and Andy?s information came up. I quickly contacted him and within the hour, he called me back, and walked me through the basic steps of editing. After a brief assessment of what I needed, Andy suggested that we meet, so that he could visibly show me the process. So, within the weekend, Andy showed me how to import footage, save and create a quality menu using DVD Studio Pro. I am grateful for his help and for the patience he exuded while we were working. A job that took another editor months to not finish, only took me a weekend with Andy?s help and guidance. I am definitely going to utilize his skills for the near future!

Andy
As a note of encouragement, I say do not fret! James Joyce worked in a Post Office and Albert Einstein was a Patent Clerk. No one they worked for had the slightest idea who they were dealing with, what they were thinking, and that a great mind was in their midst. Tsk tsk. The future looks so bright in retrospect doesn’t it??
As a note of testament, I was thinking of the words to fit you, and realized this:
I remember when we did the film with Jessica Capshaw (remember HER!?) and LD kept saying “Sherpas, I need Sherpas!” That is what you are. The fearless Sherpa you want with you when you go up that spiky treacherous mountain on a project, does not get tired, keeps the pack moving, and will come back down with you in stellar shape.
New mountains are out there for you Andy, trust me.
Hills ain’t your thing.

I have known Andy for more than 10 years and several adjectives come to mind although mere words won’t do him justice: (in no particular order) Passionate, Talented, Thoughtful, Determined, Enthusiastic, Creative, Hard-Working, Friendly, Intelligent.
Andy, GREAT things are coming your way and this world is a much better place with you in it. Remember this, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
