As I reflect about the last three weeks I have to say I was lucky to be a part of the production for “Dogs of Chinatown.” Micah Moore and Blake Faucette have been incredible to work with and for.

Ray Carbonel and Eric Jacobus in “Dogs of Chinatown”
Eric Jacobus and Ray Carbonel from The Stunt People met every expectation and then some. They brought so much excitement and professionalism to this film. Eric brought a high level of enthusiasm and he and I got to talking many times in between sets and trips back and forth to Raleigh. Eric is one cool dude and has a great mind ready to listen to new information and guess what media, he researches the stories. If you have not seen “Contour“ or heard about it check out the trailer here.
The Stunt People kick ass… most of the time it is their own ass. Ray was brought over for a week and like Eric was great to work with and another very cool guy with a great head on his shoulders. Although he was getting that head kicked around. I did a podcast with him in my car while I was driving him to Raleigh airport and guess what? The batteries died before we got there and no saved media. It was a great conversation but I guess that is between Ray and I. I have never been on a set where everyone, and I mean everyone was excited about a film. Not only from the main actors but even the extras. Josh drove down from Ohio and Paul drove from Connecticut to be in a fight scene with Eric, only to end up dead. By the way I act as an extra and guess what? I end up dead as well.
I’m trying to blog but am under a lot of pressure from all angles. I’m trying to capture the footage from behind the scenes. One hour of footage takes about four hours to log and capture. I’ve got 6 down only 19 more to go. Not to mention working on ConvergeSouth Film Festival and getting the festival lineup ready. Meeting with potential clients and oh yeah later today I’ll be in Charlotte at the National Association of Black Female Executives (NABFEME) 2007 International Women’s Leadership Summit. I will be sitting in as a guest panelist with other filmmakers in North Carolina to answer questions and give suggestions. I have to thank April Mial for throwing my name in the hat and I do feel very honored to be present.
Sunday my wife and I are heading to the woods to go camping for the night. A long time coming. For the first time we are going to use a tent we got as a gift from our wedding. As soon as we get back on Monday I’m heading to another shoot for the dogs for more scenes. I love where this film is going. Here are some cool sites if you want more information.
