RAM Bunkious

December 6th, 2007 · No Comments

My G5 has been acting up lately so I decided to run the Apple Hardware Test. The CD came with the computer and is a great diagnostic tool. I found out that 1 GB of my RAM is fouled up so I had to take out an additional 1 GB of RAM. The RAM slots architecture in the G5 are very specific. This G5 has 8 open slots for RAM and can install up to 8GBs of RAM. There are identical 4 slots open in the G5. You must have matched RAM so if you install 1 GB in one slot the identical slot on the other side has to have the exact same kind of RAM in order for it to work.

So there goes another day down the drain fixing and checking to see if the computer is ready to go.
