I bought my Macbook Pro last year and it came with Tiger installed on it. One of the first things I did was open up Front Row and test the cool new feature with the Apple Remote. To be honest I’ve had no use for the remote until tomorrow when I’m going to present a Keynote to a film panel.
Ha, what a fool i am. My Apple Remote is not connecting to my Macbook Pro. How can that be? I’ve looked online for help and I found some good advice. Even tried the built-in Help in Leopard, 10.5.2, the operating system now on my Macbook Pro. Here is what the advice looks like.

Here is what my System Preference Panel looks like when I select Security.

I have no idea why this is happening. So I called Apple Tech Support and their wisdom wants me to drive 75 miles and get an Apple Specialist to look into it. No thanks Apple, I’d prefer it if you would fix these issues yourself.

According to a commenter on a thread at TUAW:

You need to be logged in under your admin account to change that option … maybe that’s the problem?
If you only have one user set up on the computer, you’re probably already an admin account, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.
Hope you get it figured out.
