I’m heading to Chip’s Bar & Grill in Winder, GA, to do audio tests for an upcoming DVD I’m producing for Ronnie Baker Brooks. About four years ago I shot a promotional DVD for Ronnie to show him my passion for his music as well as my talent. I came across a few obstacles during the shoot.
- I was still a little weak 4 Months after an ACL replacement surgery and a blood clot.
- There were two lights with red gels pointed on the dance floor. The band hardly had any light spill on them.
- I mixed the board feed with a live mic and the live mic had pops all throughout the recording.
After a few months of hard work this is what I turned out.
Ronnie Baker Brooks: It Takes A Smart Man Just To Play Dumb from Andy Coon on Vimeo.
Ronnie loved it and wants me to shoot, edit and produce his next DVD. I’m going to shoot his performance in HD. We will have 2 possibly 3 HVX 200s and 3 HV20 camera to cover drums, keyboard and audience. The shoot is in a famous Chicago Blues Club for two nights. Legendary Blues musicians will join him on the stage which will ignite the club.
I’m so excited to use my creativity to his music. He is my favorite musician and it thrills me to work with him. This is why I do what I do. Has anyone else worked with someone they admire?

[...] Andy is headed down to Winder, GA to run some audio tests at a Ronnie Baker Brooks show. The above video was shot about 4 years ago by Andy, Blake Faucette and Tony Reeves for a promotional DVD. This time, he’s returning to the scene of the crime to prep for a RBB documentary DVD he’s shooting in Chicago later this year — a trip I’ll be joining him on. Jake you and Shane will be the first I call upon. It was a pleasure working with you and Shane. I wish you were closer to the madness.
I’m a little broke up since my computer is dying… but I’ll be OK. I’m going to hit Ammon up and see if he can help me with his Hackintosh…

Hey bud, I was going to bring up Ammon as a fix for your problem and I wanted to let you know I put a “permalink” (i think that’s what it’s called, lol) to your website on my blog - on the right side under Partners in Crime and also under Other Blogs.
