A Working Fix For HP PSC 1210 on 10.5 (Leopard)

July 26th, 2008 · 3 Comments

psc 1210I was just about to smash and trash my HP PSC 1210 all-in-one printer when I found a post that showed me how to sneak around a couple of downloads and install bits of drivers for other printers. If you go to HP’s website all you will find is chaos and confusion. If you download the HP setup assistant from their site all it does is crash.

So at least I don’t have to purchase another scanner. By the way the scanner quality is terrible on this product but I can live with it. I don’t have a high need for high quality scans just yet.

I also have an HP all-in-one photo printer, and I hate the accompanying software. I do *love* the photo tray for printing lists on 4×6 index cards (my favorite thing), though, so I put up with it.

I recently started scanning ALL of my paper documents (receipts, invoices, etc.) because I was sick of lugging two boxes of file folders around. I also was never sure what to do with articles I ripped out of magazines. I bought a Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 scanner and am pretty much in love. It comes with excellent OCR software so I can just drop a stack of papers in, and later if I need to find every bill from Comcast to do my taxes, I just search my computer for “Comcast” and all the relevant PDF pages show up. It’s a touch pricy ($350 after rebate) but it also comes with business card scanning software and a full version of Adobe Acrobat Professional, so I think it’s well worth it. If you’re in the market for more than just an occasional flatbed scanner, I suggest a ScanSnap! (It’s not for quality photo scanning, though.)

I have a PSC 1315v, and VueScan reads and scans from it right out of the box. It was a lifesaver. 🙂

The link you referenced isn’t working. Could you outline the steps here?
