Plugin Review: DvShade EasyLooks 2.0

September 3rd, 2008 · 1 Comment

dvshadeDvShade Easylooks is a color grading plugin for FCP/Express/Motion that is part of FxFactory that you can use without purchasing FxFactory…pretty cool. I absolutely love this plugin. By just adding this one filter you have over 30 presets at your fingertips to make your ordinary footage look extraordinary.

Usability

It is so easy to use. The plugin is located in the filters tab along with all your other FCP filters. Just drag and drop on the timeline or in the viewer of the clip you select.

Once you click on the filters tab in the Viewer you can choose anyone of the 32 presets.

Glad to say that DvShade comes with a help button in the filter that opens a PDF explaining each parameter so you understand how to use it. I love it because now I understand what Techni does…Techni will transform the colors in an image to mimic that of older film shooting and processing methods.

You can manipulate any of the presets and make them your own. Once you do you can save your preset and name it to use later. Nice!

If you have a unique preset you can submit it to DvShade’s Look Repository and they will host it on their website for other users to download and use for free. I love that aspect of community and availability. Kudos to DvShade.

Thank you again for the review Andy.

Just stopping by to let everyone know that brand new looks have been released for EasyLooks!
We currently have three “look collections” available for download.

‘Black, White & Sepia’, ‘Murder & Mystery’, and ‘Science Fiction’.

Each collection contains ten new looks to add to your library, and of course more are coming soon.
