Plugin Review: Motype Is Worth All The Hype

November 11th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Yanobox the creators of Motype have created a text animation plugin that works in After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Motion and Final Cut Express. Motype is powered by Fxfactory Pro. So it is essential to download FxFactory for free in order to use the plugin.

For all the editors in the world that have a difficult time creating titles, Motype is your answer. By just using the 26 presets available you have a wealth of creativity at your finger tips without doing any work.

There is a slight learning curve in using the plugin, but that is easily taken care of when you select the help button in the control panel. It is simply laid out and I highly suggest playing around with it for a couple of hours to understand exactly what you can do with it.

This plug-in is not user friendly. No instruction manual, no pdf, etc. Just a link that describes what the plug-in is supposed to do.

I don’t have an alternative plug-in I recommend as of yet, but if you’re using After Effects, stay away from this plug-in

did you check out the left sidebar? It gives you more details about what each parameter does. I got the gist.

Deconstruct the presets and play with it, pretty cool titles. The only thing I don’t like is you can’t layer the titles with the same effect you have to create a new file to add on to the title.
