West Virginia Bound

Today I’m heading to Huntington, West Virginia. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I have an interview for a Multimedia Producer position at Marshall University, The Thundering Herd.

I’m open for change and I encourage it but I have a lot vested in Greensboro, NC. The reason I’m open for change and a full time job is simple. Family. Currently my wife and I are contractors and we make enough to live, but not enough to expand, meaning…no health insurance. Luckily we haven’t had any severe health issues the past couple of years but if we want to have kids without insurance then we would go bankrupt.

The job sounds like a great opportunity. They have a studio in which they are upgrading to HD. They have a couple of TV programs that run out of the studio. One run by the students. There is an opportunity to teach, help setup AV for classrooms to large presentations and as always being a hand in the studio. They also offer to pay for 3 credits each semester if I want to return to the classroom. And I do.

I really have to weigh the options and make sure this is the right opportunity. Once I make up my mind there is no thinking back and regretting my decision. Time to move forward and make the best out of the situation. But first they need to want me there.

sometimes change is a good thing. Huntington is a nice place , right next to the river. There is a dog racing track down the road with gambling, if that flips your boat. My mom and dad are from West Virginia and my mom’s brother who I am named after lived and breathed Marshall , he was one of the first people to be at airport after the big crash. He died before I could talk to him about that whole tragic accident.

    Good luck with interview

    Hey bud,

Congrats on getting the interview, that’s more then most are doing in this wonderful recession.

I hope it works out, hope the interview goes great, and I hope you have safe travel.

    Jake

    Keith and Jake,

I had a great interview and I really like the job. It looks like it is between me and a local guy. I’d like to get the job but will keep moving forward regardless of the outcome.

I’m not real big on dog racing or any racing for that manner. But it looks like I might have to try it out if I’m called to Huntington.

It rained and was cloudy both days I was there. I drove through a cloudy fog on the way back to NC. It was really weird.

How are things with you Jake?
